DISCOVERING MY FIRST 'STAN : TASHKENT IN UZBEKISTAN

DISCOVERING MY FIRST 'STAN : TASHKENT IN UZEBEKISTAN

Welcome to the third and final part of my Uzbekistan posts! Tashkent  is the capital and the last city we stayed at,and also where we flew in and out of . Tashkent is a huge and really modern city. I didn't really get to experience if they had any nightlife or get to stroll around the center or anything like that but like Bukhara and Samarkand, Tashkent is still filled with lots of historical buildings and beautiful picturesque blue domes and towers. Lots of picture perfect sites, especially when you combine it with the cloudless blue sky! Check out the photos below!

The first few photos above are of the Hazrat Imam complex. Like the rest of Uzbekistan, the building style is similar featuring  blue domes, and gorgeous blue intricate designs dotting the sand colored facade. The highlight of this Complex is this small building :

Inside this building, there is a copy of one of the first ever Quran. We were not allowed to take photos inside but  it was pretty cool to have seen it!

This here is what they call the "Plov" It is an Uzbek specialty and I believe their national dish. It's sort of like a paella or a fried rice dish with Uzbek flavors and lots of meat. It was so good! They also had horse meat served on the side!

One other cool feature of Tashkent are their metro stations! If any of you have been Moscow, it is known to have some of the most beautiful and decadent metro stations. Since Uzbekistan was under Russia until 1994, their stations are done up in a similar style. We were not allowed to take photos again in here but I think it was pretty cool that they were able to preserve it to this day.

Have you guys been to Uzbekistan? I know it's not the usual place to jet off to and I'm pretty sure a lot do not have it on their bucket list but I encourage to include it in your list and visit  one day! I feel like Uzbekistan is one of those countries where you feel like you were transported back in time. It's and exotic and an unusual country! Its exciting, a bit mysterious and also very, very beautiful! I think I wrote in the Bukhara part of my post that I really felt like I was in another world. Check out my other posts on Bukhara and Samarkand HERE and HERE to see what I'm talking about.

Hope this post and #nofiltertravel photos inspire you to visit this part of Central Asia!
